I had the fantastic opportunity to be mentored by the company Deepsilver Volition while I worked on our mobile game, SpellSwipe (soon to be released on the App Store!). Since I filled the role of art lead and concept artist, they encouraged me to create some artwork that defined the style of our game. SpellSwipe is about a battlemage facing down hordes of undead, so I painted two scenes to set the mood and display some of the spell effects that might be in our game. These became key concepts that the team found inspiration in and could rally behind while we worked. I experimented with using Autodesk Maya in my workflow to help speed up concept art production, and I learned a lot in terms of light reflection and rendering VFX.
